Various Thoughts

I found this new kind of Ramen soup across the street. It is a buck seventy-- a little more than the older Ramen bowls. I was skeptical when I bought mine, thinking the portions would be too small and it would all taste the same.

I was amazed! What I got was teriyaki vegetable. The vegetables kind of tasted real, and the spices didn't seem terribly cheap, either. The effect of eating the soup was almost that of being at a restaurant. . . I am pleased! I want to try their ( Maruchan's ) other kinds.

Maruchan must be to the East what Wonder Bread and Budweiser are to us. . .

This week I cleaned my apartment very thoroughly. It really needed it! Whenever I cool on the stove, cooking spray evaporates, then condenses in strange places like in the living room, making everything slightly sticky. Ugh!

So I got this new cleaner and added some elbow grease and really scrubbed everything down. Seems a lot better now.

Of course, what does this all mean-- even my family doesn't visit me here. . . it is a bachelor's No Man's Land!

"Maruchan must be to the East what Wonder Bread and Budweiser are to us. . ."

Hahaha, I honestly can't tell the difference between brands of ramen.

did you happen to catch the brandname and if the ingredients included any meat stock, gelatin, or shimp paste? i'm always on the market for good ramens to keep in my emergency drawer at work, but we're a ovo/lacto vegetarian campus, so i have to be careful about what's in the mix.

p.s.: "thai kitchen" has an excellent instant rice noodle collection that are packaged and prepared very similarly to ramen. there's a little more expensive, but the taste is WONDERFUL, put some edamame beans in there and it is like you are having an actual meal. the "lemongrass chili" is my favorite ever, but they started putting shimp paste in it recently so i can't eat it at work anymore. :-( but! these come highly recommended, if you can find them.

What I liked: Maruchan's "Yakisoba" noodles, Teriyaki flavored

I saw none of the ingredients you mentioned in the food-- the closest thing to meat was "milk ingredients". . . hopefully it would be OK? The taste is much better than most Ramen. . .
